Lauren

What led you to Pilates? I found Pilates about 10 months after having my first baby. I was only 24 years old and my stomach felt really unusual so my doctor booked me into a Physio, the Physio told me I had a 10cm abdominal separation and I would need surgery, so I went home and googled natural treatment and the word “Pilates” kept popping up, I found a little reformer studio in Mona vale back when no one knew what it was and 6 months into my practice, my stomach had improved, my separation was only 1.5cm & my connective tissue in between my separation was strong and supportive. My body had completely transformed and I had such a positive impact on my mental health, I knew I had to share this with everyone so I enrolled in a Pilates course to become a trainer and have never looked back!

What do you love most about Pilates? The flow state! Once I start moving on the mat or the reformer, I get into such a flow that nothing else seems to matter.

What’s your workout style? I generally have a more slower, layered, deep muscle burn kind of style but also love to throw in a little heart rate riser.

What’s your favourite exercise? A layered lunge, I like to get my clients to the point where their ass feels like it’s going to fall off

What do you prefer to work on? Legs & Butt

What’s your favourite workout track? If I’m by myself, f**kin problems by A$AP rocky or Money by Leikeli47. If I’m teaching, my playlists are a bit more of a flight facilities, Rufus du sol kind of vibe

Sam

What led you to Pilates? I started attending mat pilates classes at my local gym when I was 25, not knowing anything about it and clearly fell in love with everything about Pilates. There is so much to know about Pilates and the fact I can keep learning about the body and movement is what keeps me so intrigued.

What do you love most about Pilates? I love the thrill of going to a class, having no idea what movements you are going to feel in your body and the influx of endorphins you feel from finally finishing. Pilates has helped me with chronic pain from my past injuries after falling off my horse, has given me strength & mobility in my body, keeping me feeling energised daily!

What’s your workout style? I love a good combo of stability & strength exercises with a pinch of cardio.

What’s your favourite exercise? Any type of lunge anywhere on the reformer & planks all day baby!

What do you prefer to work on? Everything! A full body workout  please!

What’s your favourite workout track? I’m old school…2000s RnB

What led you to Pilates? I grew up with a love of dance and have always had a passion for movement, finding joy in exercising and moving my body daily. I was introduced to pilates as a fitness client and immediately fell in love with it. The concentration of mind body connection in Pilates had me hooked and I knew I had to learn more!

What do you love most about Pilates? Pilates has taught me so much about my body that I didn’t know. I love leaving a class feeling strong and in control with a lovely little post-pilates glow on my face.

What’s your workout style? I have a strong focus on form, concentrating on that mind body connection with the perfect mix of strength and cardio to ensure you leave the class feeling satisfied.

What’s your favourite exercise? Anything that works the obliques! Nothing better than feeling long and lean in your side waist.

What do you prefer to work on? Full body workout for the win! Get that core shaking, booty burning and arms toning.

What’s your favourite workout track? At this exact moment: SZA – Kiss Me More, Flight Facilities – Lights Up

Bailey

What led you to Pilates?  I’m a mum of four and run a hair salon, so as you can imagine I’m pretty busy, but never too busy for pilates. After my fourth child it was the only way my stomach separation reduced, my abdominals felt stronger and I loved how it made me feel. I needed to know more about Pilates so I embarked on the next part of my life!

What do you love most about Pilates? I love the connection you get with your body and the burn you get with such a simple movement. Feeling strong is so empowering as a woman & I leave each class feeling amazing.

What’s your workout style? I love to start with abs and breath work so you can really connect with your body. Then getting that real booty burn in addition to lengthening the muscles at the same time.

What do you prefer to work? Abs, legs and butt.

What’s your favourite workout track? Love a good RnB song. I can get flowing to anything but when teaching I love to mix it up!

What led you to Pilates? I was a bit of a clown as a kid, I loved acting and performing and circus skills, especially trapeze. I was never really into traditional fitness, until I found pilates and I just knew I had found my thing! I loved how it was so varied and dynamic and fun! I like the slightly acrobatic elements and the amazing moves you can do on a reformer.

What do you love most about Pilates? Definitely the mood elevator! My husband calls it my “pilates face” because I leave the house grumpy and come home with a bright, relaxed and open happy face haha!

What’s your workout style? It’s gotta be fun! I like to mix it up, sometimes a slow burn with lots of layers is amazing, sometimes I just want to sweat it out with heavy springs and a power pilates sesh! I guess the one consistency is that I like to flow things together for a smooth transition.

What’s your favourite exercise? Ooh. Probably box kickbacks for glutes and hamstrings. Peachy!

What do you prefer to work on? Abs for sure, glutes, and legs. I have found a recent love of spinal extension work too.

What’s your favourite workout track? I make new playlists all the time so one day it will be Deep House Bangers and the next day I’m vibing 70s Disco. I love to crank up the volume on the hard bits for a lil boost of energy. It helps!

What led you to Pilates? Having worked in the fitness industry since 2016 I’ve always had a love for guiding movement. After I injured my neck a couple of years ago I put down the heavy weights, gave up cross fit and stuck to Pilates. After years of being too scared to move in certain ways, I felt strong, confident and in control again. How could I not share this and teach others? The benefits were ten fold to any other movement I had participated in. I truly learnt the difference between mindful and mindless movement. I felt I needed to go further and deepen my knowledge and learnings and went on to the study the diploma which opened my eyes up even more. I have put roots down with this career path and I couldn’t love it more than I do!

What do you love most about Pilates? The body awareness and inner feeling 100% If you’ve done Pilates you probably know what I’m talking about. There is nothing better than truly feeling and being in control of what’s going on in your body. Our bodies are so divine and intelligent and once you get that mind, body connection it is just the best feeling and I love seeing that with clients it makes me so happy. Also the burn is pretty outta control too!

What is your workout style? I love teaching a slow burn. Layering the foundations and getting creative with where they can go. Getting people to feel grounded and present in their bodies and always making sure to mobilise and wake the spine up to start

What’s your favourite exercise? Teaser up on the box for sure, or anything that challenges my core strength
What do you prefer to work on?
Abs and anything stability for the win.

What’s your favourite workout track? Depends what mood I’m in. Anything with a good groovy beat gets me super pumped up. A lovers holiday by change definitely gets me in the mood no matter what!

What led you to Pilates? Honestly? Pure gym avoidance and finding Pilates after babies = me time!! Pilates felt like a secret portal to actual joy in movement. I tried one class and thought, “Wait… this is exercise? Where’s this been all my life?”

What do you love most about Pilates? The endless possibilities! I love how Pilates never feels the same twice, going to class getting a full body workout without having to think – and the fact that anyone any body can do it? That’s the magic.

What’s your workout style? Think creative flows with endless layers, a big focus on form, and just the right mix of strength, stability, and a cheeky bit of cardio to get the heart pumping. I love keeping things fun but purposeful – challenging you in all the right ways while making sure we have fun along the way. Strong, sweaty, and smiling – that’s the vibe

What’s your favourite exercise? Anything that sets my obliques on fire. I will never say no to a side plank or box side overs – especially one with a twist, a thread, a lift and maybe a cheeky pulse, and lunges? It’s the mental challenge of the endless layers for me, love it!!

What do you prefer to work on? I’m all about the abs and booty, give me a deep core burn and anything firing up the glutes and I’m happy!

What’s your favourite workout track? This keeps changing, I love something with a good groovy beat!

Maddie

What led you to Pilates? I danced from a young age up until leaving school, and I was then searching for a form of exercise that gave me the same benefits as dance but also could build strength (especially upper body). I started with Barre which then eventually led to Pilates, and here we are seven years later!

What do you love most about Pilates? The endless options – whether it’s reformer, mat, or clinical pilates, pilates is so versatile and can work anything; mobility, endurance, strength, coordination. It’s a one stop shop.

What’s your workout style? I really try to work the entire body, though I’ll always have a focus for each class where we will work a little more to a particular muscle group, range, movement pattern etc. to work on endurance of that particular area. There will always be a strength challenge in there too.

What’s your favourite exercise? Any light spring standing work to challenge my stability, muscle endurance and mind at the same time – no spring lunges every time!

What do you prefer to work on? I prefer to work on endurance to increase strength, whether this is more layers, longer time under tension, or heavier springs, endurance is my goal!

What’s your favourite workout track? If it were up to me it would be anything Taylor Swift or show tunes … but for my clients I love up beat house music to keep a happy vibe throughout the class

What led you to Pilates? After growing up dancing movement has always been an important part of my life, not only for the positive effects it has on my body but also my mind. After finding pilates and it becoming my favourite form of exercise, I was drawn to teaching and helping people get stronger in more ways than one like it did for me.

What do you love most about Pilates? I love the limitless exercises that are achievable, especially on a reformer! Obsessed with the burn and challenge it brings as well as the additional layers you can add to an exercise to create an amazing flow.

What’s your workout style? I love a slow full body burn, mixing it it up with either a light spring flow to challenge stability or a heavy spring flow to build strength and work up a sweat.

What’s your favourite exercise? Would have to be legs in straps, love kick backs and side lying single leg press! Also love to start class with a strong bridge series to target the glutes and get the spine moving.

What do you prefer to work on? Anything booty and abs.

What’s your favourite workout track? Either a good house or R&B playlist! Artists on repeat lately are Kaytranada, Fred again, Barry Cant Swim and Gorgon City.

Jess

What led you to Pilates? I have been teaching yoga since I was 23, pilates was a natural progression to further my knowledge of movement and the body.

What do you love most about Pilates? The accessibility. Pilates is for absolutely everyone; no matter your age, fitness level or if you are working through some injuries. I love that I can have students of various abilities in the same class and give everyone exactly what they need by starting with a simple movement and building upon it for those who are ready to progress.

What’s your workout style? I don’t have one. I try to tap into what I feel my body needs on any given day. Some days it’s dialled up, other days I’m seeking something more restorative.

What’s your favourite exercise? A modified vinyasa flow on the reformer. Fluid yet spicy.

What do you prefer to work on? Stability all day, with all the layers to get the whole body working. Never forgetting the booty!

What’s your favourite workout track? Remixed old school. I’m an 80’s child.

What led you to Pilates? I’m a mum of two and once you have kids time becomes something that is almost impossible to find, I tried a few different things but i hated it all. I’ve always loved to train go to the gym and keep active, once I tried Pilates I fell in love with it. I remember thinking how hard it was, but still I kept coming back for more So I thought about becoming a Pilates teacher, works perfect for me and for my family and now I get to do what I love!

What do you love most about Pilates? What I love most about Pilates is that anyone can do it. I love that you can work a little bit of everything from strength to flexibility anything you want and oh dear it burns! You will feel every muscle working even the ones you didn’t know existed. Pilates may look easy but will humble anyone! it’s just the best combination.

What’s your workout style? I like a full body workout. I like to mix it with light springs to challenge stability and heavy springs to build some muscle.

What’s your favourite exercise? I would say kickbacks on the box.

What do you prefer to work on? Lower body! Love legs and booty burn!

What’s your favourite workout track? I love R&B but when I’m teaching I like to mix it a little bit. I really don’t mind just something fun that will keep everyone motivated and wanting to train hard.

Jess

What led you to Pilates? I’ve have always been super into yoga, completing my yoga teacher training in 2015 however I needed something more, so I actually decided to start reformer Pilates purely to strengthen my yoga practise. I ended up completely falling in LOVE with pilates and couldn’t stay away, so I decided to do my teacher training and have never looked back since!

What do you love most about Pilates? I’ve been in the fitness industry since I was 19 so I have tried every type of exercise you can think of but nothing compares to Pilates! The mix of lengthening, and strengthen while still being able to get your little cardio bursts in is like no other. I also love how versatile it is, and no class is ever the same. It’s just so inclusive for everyone and there is no pressure. It allows everyone to go at their own pace, in their own time while still getting all the benefits and leaving feeling fab!

What’s your workout style? I LOVE a dynamic flow state! Any class that flows seamlessly from one thing to the next, while really creating that burn is definitely my jam.

What’s your favourite exercise? Any sort of kick back. Super basic but always works a treat.

What do you prefer to do work on? Anything glutes! I also love some postural work, opening through the front body and strength through the back.

What is your favourite workout track? I love a bit of old school Rihanna! Definitely a big fan of R&B on Fridays, and then a bit of random mix during the week depending on the mood.

What led you to Pilates? I’m a jeweller/metal worker by trade so I used to get a lot of back and shoulder pain from having bad posture, until I found pilates. I’d always had a strong interest in health and fitness and used to be a personal trainer before having kids. After so long working in the creative world where you spend a lot of time alone, I was keen to get back out there and be among people with similar interests, so I retrained as an instructor.

What do you love most about Pilates? I love that it helps all different kinds of people and is suitable to all levels of fitness. Plus, the buzz you get from going to a good group class is priceless.

What’s your works out style? I like a class that flows smoothly where you get a whole body workout with a focus on core and stability. I like a faster class were you can get your heart rate up a little but there has to be lots of layers.

What’s your favourite exercise? I love a good lunge sequence with lots of layers where you really burn out your glutes.

What do you prefer to work on?  Glutes and core for sure!

What’s your favourite workout track? Hmm, that’s tough. At the moment I’m really liking anything by Fred Again.

Hannah

What led you to Pilates? I always struggled to find something I enjoyed until I tried Pilates. From the first class, I was hooked. It felt good, made me feel strong, and was actually fun and motivating. I loved it so much I became an instructor!

What do you love most about Pilates? I love how it connects me to my body. It’s low-impact but super effective. Builds strength, tones, and helps with everyday movement. Especially post baby, I’ve experienced just how powerful it is.

What’s your workout style? Intentional but fun! I focus on themes like strength, stability, or short cardio bursts. I like to mix tempo and challenge both body and mind. People have said my sessions are deceiving. I may seem calm when you meet me but my workouts sneak up on you 😂

What’s your favourite exercise? Definitely knee tucks and pikes. They fire up the core, test your balance and get your whole body working. They leave you shaking in the best way! Love them.

What do you prefer to work on? Legs and glutes, for sure. Especially during a tough superset that makes you question your life choices!

What’s your favourite workout track? “Music Sounds Better with You” by Neil Frances – can’t help but sing along when it’s on! Gets everyone moving in the best way.

What led you to Pilates? I found pilates when I was looking for something to give me a solid workout, without impact as well as to strengthen some existing weaknesses that were causing me injury/pain.

What do you love most about Pilates? I love the variation of pilates – the options are endless! I love how easy it is to layer up or down to tailor the exercises to each individual, making it accessible for everyone and I especially love the mental focus that comes with practicing.

What’s your workout style? I like to keep my workouts challenging but still fun at the same time. I love seeing clients achieve something that they came in thinking they couldn’t do.

What’s your favourite exercise? Love a kickback on the box & elevated lunges.

What do you prefer to work on? Definitely legs and glutes – all day everyday!

What’s your favourite workout track? Forever obsessed with Rihanna and Nelly Furtado but I genuinely have so many favourites, you’ll hear me saying “omg I love this song!” at least 10 times a day.
